It's another Sunday, and Chef has featured a three course menu for $30. Of course, you are welcome to choose items individually as well, but those who were sad to see Urban Eats come to an end need not shed a tear; Sunday Supper will continue to be a three for thirty pre-fix all the time.

I stopped by Ballard's Sunday Market over the weekend. I picked up a few new things for you all to enjoy.

Memorial Day Weekend 09' was definitely one to remember for the staff of 94 Stewart.
After serving dinner and closing the restaurant on Saturday night, Chef drove straight from Seattle to Benton,WA home of the Terra Blanca Winery. Arriving shortly after 4 AM, Chef was surprised to see the sun already rising, but optimistic about the class she was going to teach mere hours later.
The subject of Chef's lectures were based from the July 2008 Article in the New York Times, "The 11 Best Foods You're Not Eating". Because of time limitations, Chef covered 9 of the 11 essentials, including beets, cinnamon, cabbage, turmeric, blueberries, pomegranate, plums, and Swiss chard. Not to anyone's surprise, demand for a seat in Chef's class was so high she was asked to lecture twice back to back!
Still, anyone who knows Chef knows she not only works hard, but also finds time to play hard too. One standout moment was being given a rare and private tour of the caves by Keith Pilgrim, wine maker for Terra Blanca. Needless to say, the rest of the spare time was spent tasting wine and eating at great, and some not so great places, but being sure to bring back lots of new wine and all the fresh energy that comes with getting out of town for the weekend. Always love to bring in ‘real’ cheeses. This third generation family run fromagerie can wow you with every bite. When Mike Glauser was in town he stopped by several local location including ours. Hopefully this means more people will realize the deli slices packed in plastic are not ‘swiss’ cheese. Within the nutty rind the tangy, creamy paste is pocked with tiny holes. This rich paste smothers your tongue in a rich almost yoghurtiness that hints toward wild berries and flowers that the herd may have been feeding on.

I can’t bring in a full 200+ lb wheel of this fabulous beast. Like Parmigiana this is an often copied cheese, but nothing is like the real thing. What you find in the grocery store is called “Swiss Cheese” and barely does justice. With nearly two years of aging this cheese screams
out, EAT ME! Melt it over something, make it in Fondue (we do) or Mac-n-Cheese (yep).
