I realized something last night before heading home: fall is actually here. Sure, it officially began over a week ago, but the climate effects were non apparent until the sky drizzled and oozed rain for almost the entire evening. Looking out the 94 window it made me wish I had a sweetheart to cozy up with over a delicious homemade tart or steamy cup of soup. Alas, I was working, but it did bring me joy knowing there were several diners in the restaurant doing what I do on nights like that one.
Spicy red curry with coconut is the soup tonight, and the tarts are a collection of soulful favorites like:
Mocha
Walnut with Ginger Pumpkin
Apple cinnamon
Pumpkin Cheesecake
Maple Cream Tart
Coconut Macaroon
Cherry Chocolate
Looks like the weather has settled into the new season and Chef has adjusted just as well with a delicious number of treats waiting for you to come cozy up with.
Don't let your carriage turn into a pumpkin. Or on second thought, maybe you should. It is the season after all, and we are making:

Your Grace, Lemon Tart
Your Eminence, Coconut Macaroon
Your Lord, Chocolate Covered Cherry
Grandly, Truly,

P.S. As part of our daily blog we will begin to feature two words of the day. One word a food term, the other being wine related. It's something fun and educational, a wonderful pairing.
Food WOD: Della Casa
"A term found on Italian menus meaning that a dish is in the style of the HOUSE (referring to the restaurant or trattoria), such as "fettuccine della casa". Vino della casa would be the "house wine".
Wine WOD: Doux
"French for "sweet." On a Champagne label, "doux" means the wine is very sweet - over 5 percent sugar."
We've been waiting all year for this moment, and the time has arrived for Pumpkin Bread Pudding.

Please check your pulse now.

Only at 94 Stewart could a man from the great state of Missouri experience an exotic custom made dish, and the taste of home simultaneously.
The man, Paul, is an "Irregular" as Chef likes to call them. Irregulars are customers who would be "regulars" if they lived in Seattle, but instead live throughout the country and the world who make it a point to stop in for a 94 Stewart experience whenever they are in town.
This visit Paul gave Chef fresh Chanterelle Mushrooms he had hand picked back home. Much obliged, Chef created a tasty dish on the spot using a variety of interesting ingredients.
Using Sole as the main protein of the dish, it was seared with Indonesian Cinnamon and layered together with a salad of wild arugula, spiced pumpkin seeds, heirloom tomatoes, white truffle oil and sea salt. All were delicately placed over the custom made Missouri Chanterelle Mushroom risotto. At first Paul didn't even recognize Chef's usage of cinnamon that she had interwoven throughout the dish.
It was decided the dinner would be called, 'Summer's End Sole', in homage to the quickly fading warm weather and welcome of the harvest season.
Thanks Paul for the lovely gift of Chanterelles and for letting Chef do what she loves most, cook creatively.
Funky day and rainy so far at 94. The market is humming, but it seems with a bit more soul than usual.
The Soup is very much suited for a cloudy day like this, 'Cream of Tomato with Sweet Pepper and Garlic'.
The tarts are a jive hive mixture of: Apricot with Berry Swirl, Peanut Butter Filled Chocolate, Wild Evergreen Blackberry Cobbler, Coconut Rum.
So friends, Put your records on, groove a bit, kiss your sweetie and head on down to 94 Stewart. We're not just good for a rainy day, but we'll certainly use that excuse.
